Children (6-23 months): Minimum meal frequency

Definition

Proportion of breastfed and non-breastfed children 6–23 months who receive the minimum number of feeds or more with solid, semi-solid, or soft foods. For breastfed children this is 2 for children 6-8 months and 3 for children 9-23 months. For non-breastfed children this is 4 for children 6-8 months (including formula).

Relevance

The minimum meal frequency indicator captures the caloric sufficiency of a child’s diet.
